STORY

God is living and at work.  It is God's work of drawing people into community - into right relationship - with Him, with one another, and with what He has created that provides the foundation for the Big Story (life) and for the story of Holy Community Covenant Church.

In the early spring of 2012, the community of Faith Covenant Church sensed the rich opportunity to take a significant next step together: the planting of a new church.  God's work of building community was evident among this faith family as they had seen good growth.  This notion of undertaking a church plant had been a hope of several members of the Faith Covenant Church family, and it seemed that, now, the timing was right to participate in God's work of community building by commissioning a small group of people to begin the work of planting a new community intent on presencing the Gospel in Winnipeg's West End.

In March, Holy Community Covenant Church began to meet, gathering in homes for times of prayer and conversation about what it would look like to love God and their neighbours in the West End.

In December of 2012, HCCC began weekly worship gatherings at 1061 Ellice Avenue, and we continue to gather each Sunday evening to tell and retell the story of God at work in the world and our lives, to celebrate, and to pray for one another. Along with meeting in weekly small/home groups, and regularly serving in our community we continue to seek to give expression to our identity as a Holy Community.

In April 2013 we marked one year of life and ministry together; one year of being a community that shares the love of God and our whole lives. It was a celebration, complete with cake, balloons, and remembering God's goodness over the last weeks and months.

In the summer of 2017, Holy Community took the step of purchasing the property they had been using for worship each week. With this move, HCCC has firmly planted itself in the West End neighbourhood for the long haul.

We continue to look forward to what lies ahead. We are hopeful that God will bring about His good peace through the faithfulness of our community, that our neighbours and neighbourhood will be blessed by our presence in the area, and that God is honoured by the way we live our lives as a called people and holy community.
